Respect For Our Anthem

A veteran on Colin Kaepernick and Respect

Jim Wright

August 27, 2016, Pensacola, FL

“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color. To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”

I’ve been away from the internet all day.

I came home from a family picnic on the Blackwater River to find my inbox, as usual, overflowing like a ripe Port-O-Pottie.

One of the first messages I read was about 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, quoted above, who last Friday night at the beginning of a preseason game suddenly decided to become the most hated man in America du jour by deliberately not standing for the National Anthem.

Yes, that’s right, a football player didn’t stand for the National Anthem.

As you know, this means Kaepernick is scum, a horrible human being, a likely member of ISIS, a Muslim terrorist, a black thug, a communist, a socialist (and not the cool share your weed Bernie Sanders kind of socialist but the Red Brigade kind of Socialist who sleeps under a poster of Chairman Mao), a radical, a Black Panther, and he probably has Fidel Castro’s phone number in his contact favorites.

Yeah. Okay.

I answered the message and went on to the next one.

The next message was about Kaepernick. As was the next one. And the next one. And…

They all begin pretty much the same way: Jim, AS A VETERAN, what do you think about this? Well?

Let me answer all the messages at once

AS A VETERAN, what do I think about Colin Kaepernick’s decision to sit during the National Anthem?

As a veteran?

Very well, as a veteran then, this is what I believe:

The very first thing I learned in the military is this: Respect is a two-way street. If you want respect, true respect, sincere respect, then you have to GIVE IT.

If you want respect, you have to do the things necessary to earn it each and every single day. There are no short cuts and no exceptions.

Respect cannot be compelled.

Respect cannot be bought.

Respect cannot be inherited.

Respect cannot be demanded at the muzzle of a gun or by beating it into somebody or by shaming them into it. Can not. You might get what you think is respect, but it’s not. It’s only the appearance of respect. It’s fear, it’s groveling, it’s not respect. Far, far too many people both in and out of the military, people who should emphatically know better, do not understand this simple fact: there is an enormous difference between fear and respect.

Respect has to be earned.

Respect. Has. To. Be. Earned.

Respect has to be earned every day, by every word, by every action.

It takes a lifetime of words and deeds to earn respect.

It takes only one careless word, one thoughtless action, to lose it.

You have to be worthy of respect. You have to live up to, or at least do your best to live up to, those high ideals — the ones America supposedly embodies, that shining city on the hill, that exceptional nation we talk about, yes, that one. To earn respect you have to be fair. You have to have courage. You must embrace reason. You have to know when to hold the line and when to compromise. You have to take responsibility and hold yourself accountable. You have to keep your word. You have to give respect, true respect, to get it back.

There are no short cuts. None.

Now, any veteran worth the label should know that. If they don’t, then likely they weren’t much of a soldier to begin with and you can tell them I said so.

IF Kaepernick doesn’t feel his country respects him enough for him to respect it in return, well, then you can’t MAKE him respect it.

You can not make him respect it.

If you try to force a man to respect you, you’ll only make him respect you less.

With threats, by violence, by shame, you can maybe compel Kaepernick to stand up and put his hand over his heart and force him to be quiet. You might.

But that’s not respect.

It’s only the illusion of respect.

You might force this man into the illusion of respect. You might. Would you be satisfied then? Would that make you happy? Would that make you respect your nation, the one which forced a man into the illusion of respect, a nation of little clockwork patriots all pretending satisfaction and respect? Is that what you want? If THAT’s what matters to you, the illusion of respect, then you’re not talking about freedom or liberty. You’re not talking about the United States of America. Instead you’re talking about every dictatorship from the Nazis to North Korea where people are lined up and MADE to salute with the muzzle of a gun pressed to the back of their necks.

That, that illusion of respect, is not why I wore a uniform.

That’s not why I held up my right hand and swore the oath and put my life on the line for my country.

That, that illusion of respect, is not why I am a veteran.

Not so a man should be forced to show respect he doesn’t feel.

That’s called slavery and I have no respect for that at all.

If Americans want this man to respect America, then first they must respect him.

If America wants the world’s respect, it must be worthy of respect.

America must be worthy of respect. Torture, rendition, indefinite detention, unarmed black men shot down in the street every day, poverty, inequality, voter suppression, racism, bigotry in every form, obstructionism, blind patriotism, NONE of those things are worthy of respect from anybody — least of all an American.

But doesn’t it also mean that if Kaepernick wants respect, he must give it first? Give it to America? Be worthy of respect himself? Stand up, shut up, and put his hand over his heart before Old Glory?

No. It doesn’t.

Respect doesn’t work that way.

Power flows from positive to negative. Electricity flows from greater potential to lesser.

The United States isn’t a person, it’s a vast construct, a framework of law and order and civilization designed to protect the weak from the ruthless and after more than two centuries of revision and refinement it exists to provide in equal measure for all of us the opportunity for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The United States is POWER.

All the power rests with America. Just as it does in the military chain of command. And like that chain of command, like the electrical circuit described above, respect must flow from greater to lesser FIRST before it can return.

To you the National Anthem means one thing, to Kaepernick it means something else. We are all shaped and defined by our experiences and we see the world through our own eyes. That’s freedom. That’s liberty. The right to believe differently. The right to protest as you will. The right to demand better. The right to believe your country can BE better, that it can live up to its sacred ideals, and the right to loudly note that it has NOT. The right to use your voice, your actions, to bring attention to the things you believe in. The right to want more for others, freedom, liberty, justice, equality, and RESPECT.

A true veteran might not agree with Colin Kaepernick, but a true veteran would fight to the death to protect his right to say what he believes.

You don’t like what Kaepernick has to say? Then prove him wrong, BE the nation he can respect.

It’s really just that simple.

Respect for Those Murdered in Orlando

Respect for Americans Murdered in Orlando

By Capt Joseph R. John, June 14, 2016

The below listed message from Rees Lloyd, Esq (USA) Honors Flag Day.  On this Flag Day, it is appropriate to pay homage to the 49 innocent and gentle Americans who were murdered, and 50 others innocent Americans who were wounded in Orlando in the 86th terrorists attack on American soil by another Radical Islamic Terrorists.

Unfortunately, few Americans are aware that Radical Islamic Terrorists have been attacking and/or killing hundreds of Americans citizens on US soil for the last 8 years; those attacks have been covered up by the left of center liberal media establishment, and the threat continues to be minimized and underestimated by the occupant of the Oval Office.

The United States has been under attack from coast to coast in  places like  Sacramento, Houston, Philadelphia, San Bernardino, Times Square, Moore, Detroit, Boise, Little Rock, Fort Hood Texas, Portland-ME, Chattanooga, Garland, Boston, Portland-OR, Minneapolis, Merced, Missouri, Kentucky, New York, Illinois, Washington-DC, Orlando, Oklahoma, and many more cities too numerous to list here.

The FBI has over 1000 open cases on Radical Islamic Terrorists planning attacks against Americans on US soil.  To date 100 ISIS Radical Islamic Terrorist plots have been broken up by the FBI, resulting in the arrests of over 180 ISIS Muslim Refugees and Radical Islamic Terrorists from across the United States

We are saddened at the loss of any American lives to murderous attacks by Radical Islamic Terrorists who have “Declared War Against the United States”, and those terrorists have been employing bombs, knives, planes, and guns in 86 Terrorist Attacks to kill Americans on US soil.

We encourage very aggressive action by the US Armed Forces against Radical Islamic Terrorist, ISIS, Al Q’ieda in their overseas bases of operations to put them on the defensive and eradicate the terrorist threat. The best defense is a good offenses.

We also encourage the Obama administration to allow the FBI to interview all entering Middle East and African Refugees to determine if they have terrorist ties, before they are allowed to be resettled in 180 cities across the United States; to date Obama has allowed 915,000 Middle East and African Refugees to be resettled in the United States without allowing the FBI to vet their backgrounds to determine if they have terrorist ties.

We observe Flag Day again this year, and under the Flag of the United States, pay our respects to every American killed by Radical Islamic Terrorists as a result of their “Declared War Against the United States”.

FLAG DAY “Millions of our school children will daily proclaim…dedication of our nation…to the Almighty” -Eisenhower

Thirteen Stars and Thirteen Stripes.

On JUNE 14, 1777, the Second Continental Congress selected the FLAG of the United States.

In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson designated JUNE 14 as “NATIONAL FLAG DAY.”

“I… call your attention to the approach of the anniversary of the day upon which THE FLAG OF THE UNITED STATES was adopted by the Congress as the emblem of the Union…

…I therefore… request that throughout the nation… the FOURTEENTH DAY of JUNE be observed as FLAG DAY with special patriotic exercises…

to give significant expressions to our thoughtful love of America, our comprehension of the great mission of liberty and justice… for an America which no man can corrupt, no influence draw away from its ideals, no force divide against itself…

Done at the City of Washington…in the year of Our Lord one thousand nine hundred and sixteen.”

On JUNE 14, 1783, General George Washington sent a “Circular Letter” to the thirteen Governors of the newly independent States:

“I am now preparing to resign…

Before I carry this resolution into effect, I think it a duty…to make this my last official communication, to congratulate you on the glorious events which Heaven has been pleased to produce in our favor…

The Citizens of America are from this period to be considered as the actors of a most conspicuous theater, which seems to be particularly designed by Providence for the display of human greatness and felicity…

Heaven has crowned all its other blessing, by giving a fairer opportunity for political happiness, than any other nation has ever been favored with…”

For God and Country

Washington continued, warning:

“According to the system of policy the States shall adopt at this moment, they will stand or fall;

and by their confirmation or lapse, it is yet to be decided, whether the Revolution must ultimately be considered as a blessing or a curse…

not to the present age alone, for with our fate will the destiny of unborn millions be involved…

Washington’s concern for “unborn millions” was indicative of the founders, who sacrificed their prosperity for their posterity.

This contrasted with later politicians who sacrificed their posterity for their prosperity, yoking children with an unpayable debt.

John Adams wrote, April 26, 1777:

Posterity! You will never know how much it cost the present generation to preserve your freedom! I hope you will make a good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in Heaven that I ever took half the pains to preserve it.”

Washington concluded:

“I now make it my earnest prayer that God would have you, and the State over which you preside, in His holy protection;

that He would incline the hearts of the citizens…to entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another... and particularly for their brethren who have served in the field;

and finally, that
He would most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind, which were the characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed religion,

and without an humble imitation of whose example in these things, we can never hope to be a happy nation.”

Speaking of the Flag, President Calvin Coolidge stated May 31, 1926:

“Our condition today is not merely that of one people UNDER ONE FLAG, but of a thoroughly united people who have seen bitterness and enmity which once threatened to sever them pass away, and a spirit of kindness and good will reign over them all.”

President Calvin Coolidge stated May 25, 1924, at the Confederate Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia:

“It is the maintenance of our American ideals, BENEATH A COMMON FLAG, under the blessings of Almighty God… We know that Providence would have it so.”

For God and Country

President Franklin D. Roosevelt stated November 13, 1935:

“OUR FLAG for a century and a half has been the symbol of the principles of liberty of conscience, of religious freedom and equality before the law; and these concepts are deeply ingrained in our national character.”

During World War II, President Franklin D. Roosevelt stated on FLAG DAY, JUNE 14, 1942:

“The belief in man, created free, in the image of God – is the crucial difference between ourselves and the enemies we face today…

…We ask the German people, still dominated by their Nazi whip-masters, whether they would rather have the mechanized hell of Hitler’s ‘New’ Order or – in place of that, freedom of speech and religion…

…We ask the Japanese people, trampled by their savage lords of slaughter, whether they would rather continue slavery and blood or – in place of them, freedom of speech and religion…

…We know that man, born to freedom in the image of God, will not forever suffer the oppressors’ sword…

Franklin Roosevelt continued:

“I am going to close by reading you a prayer

God of the free, we pledge our hearts and lives today to the cause of all free mankind.

Grant us victory over the tyrants who would enslave all free men and Nations…

Grant us patience with the deluded and pity for the betrayed…

Grant us valor that shall cleanse the world of oppression and the old base doctrine that the strong must eat the weak because they are strong.'”

Mentioning the Flag, Yale President Ezra Stiles warned May 8, 1783:

“That symbol of union, THE AMERICAN FLAG with it increasing stripes and stars, may have an equally combining efficacy for ages…

…The senatorial constitution and consulate of the Roman Empire lasted from Tarquin (last Roman king, 509 BC) to Caesar (Roman dictator, 49 BC)…

…The Assyrian endured without mutation through a tract of one thousand three hundred years from Semiramis (legendary ancient Babylonian queen) to Sardanapalus (alleged last Assyrian ruler, 627 BC)…

…Nor was the policy of Egypt overthrown for a longer period from the days of Metzraim (upper and lower Nile kingdoms, c.3,300 BC)

till the time of Cambyses (Persian conqueror of Egypt, 525 BC) and Amasis (last great Egpytian ruler, 526 BC)…

…The Medo-Persian (550-330 BC) and Alexandrine Empires (356-323 BC), and that of Timur (1370-1405 AD), who once reigned from Smyrna to the Indus, were…of short and transitory duration…

…Pragmatic sanction…secured the imperial succession in the House of Austria for ages (Habsburgs, 1020-1780)…

Whatever mutations may arise in the United States, perhaps hereditary monarchy and a standing army will be the last.

Ben Franklin warned June 2, 1787:

“There is scarce a king in a hundred who would not, if he could, follow the example of Pharaoh – get first all the people’s money, then all their lands, and then make them and their children servants forever…

There is a natural inclination in mankind to kingly government… I am apprehensive…that the government of the States may, in future times, end in a monarchy.

Yale President Ezra Stiles continued:

“This great American revolution, this recent political phenomenon… will be… contemplated by all nations….

…Navigation will carry THE AMERICAN FLAG around the globe itself; and display the thirteen stripes and new constellation at Bengal and Canton, on the Indus and Ganges, on the Whang-ho and the Yang-tse-kiang; and with commerce will import the wisdom and literature of the east….

…That prophecy of Daniel is now literally fulfilling – there shall be a universal traveling to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

…This knowledge will be brought home and treasured up in America: and being here digested and carried to the highest perfection, may re-blaze back from America to Europe, Asia and Africa, and illumine the world with truth and liberty…”

America’s God and Country Encyclopedia of Quotations

Ezra Stiles added:

“John Adams…observes… ‘But the great designs of Providence must be accomplished… The progress of society will be accelerated by centuries by this revolution…

…American ideas of toleration and religious liberty…will become the fashionable system of Europe very soon. Light spreads from the dayspring in the west; and may it shine more and more until the perfect day…'”

Stiles concluded:

“The United States will embosom all the religious sects or denominations in Christendom

The Presbyterian, the Church of England… the Unitas FratrumMoravian bishops… Ancient Bohemian churches… the Baptists, the Friends, the Lutherans, the Romanists… the Dutch, and Gallic, and German reformed or Calvinistic churches… There is a Greek church brought from Smyrna… There are Wesyans, Mennonites… all…who will give the religious complexion to America… EpiscopalGreek and Armenian patriarchates…

With a most generous benevolence….of a friendly cohabitation of all sects in America, proving that men may be good members of civil society, and yet differ in religion…

Little would civilians have thought ages ago, that the world should ever look to America for models of government.”

President James Buchanan stated March 4, 1857:

“We ought to cultivate peace, commerce, and friendship with all nations…in a spirit of Christian benevolence toward our fellow-men… The people, under the protection of THE AMERICAN FLAG, have enjoyed civil and religious liberty..”

In 1865, President Abraham Lincoln commented to State Senator James Scovel of New Jersey:

“If God gives me four years more to rule this country, I believe it will become what it ought to be – what its Divine Author intended it to be – no longer one vast plantation for breeding human beings for the purpose of lust and bondage.

But it will become a new Valley of Jehoshaphat, where all the nations of the earth will assemble together UNDER ONE FLAG, worshiping a common God, and they will celebrate the resurrection of human freedom.”

When Abraham Lincoln died, President Andrew Johnson stated April 25, 1865:

“In order to mitigate that grief on earth which can only be assuaged by communion with the Father in heaven

I… appoint… the 25th day of May next, to be observed, wherever in the United States THE FLAG OF THE COUNTRY may be respected, as a day of humiliation and mourning, and I recommend… citizens… assemble in their respective places of worship, there to unite in solemn service to Almighty God.”

President Rutherford B. Hayes noted in his diary that during the Civil War:

“Archbishop John Baptist Purcell strung THE AMERICAN FLAG, in the crisis of our fate, from the top of the Cathedral in Cincinnati April 16, 1861! The spire was beautiful before, but the Catholic prelate made it radiant with hope and glory for our country!”

America’s God and Country Encyclopedia of Quotations

When Rutherford B. Hayes died, President Benjamin Harrison described him, January 18, 1893:

“He was a patriotic citizen, a lover of THE FLAG and of our free institutions, an industrious and conscientious civil officer, a soldier of dauntless courage, a loyal comrade and friend, a sympathetic and helpful neighbor, and the honored head of a happy Christian home.”

President Andrew Johnson stated while serving as a Senator from Tennessee (The Life and Public Services of Andrew Johnson – State Papers, Speeches and Addresses, by John Savage, NY: Derby & Miller, 1866, p. 247, appendix p. 87, Jan. 31, 1862):

“Let us look forward to the time when we can take THE FLAG OF OUR COUNTRY and nail it below the Cross, and there let it wave as it waved in the olden times, and let us gather around it and inscribe for our motto: ‘Liberty and Union, one and inseparable, now and forever,’ and exclaim, ‘Christ first, our country next!‘”

In dedicating the Oregon Trail, President Warren G. Harding stated July 3, 1923:

“Never in the history of the world has there been a finer example of civilization following Christianity.

The missionaries led under the banner of the Cross, and the settlers moved close behind under the STAR-SPANGLED SYMBOL OF THE NATION.”

President Benjamin Harrison stated July 21, 1892

“Let THE NATIONAL FLAG float over every schoolhouse in the country and the exercises be such as shall impress upon our youth the patriotic duties of American citizenship… Let there be expressions of gratitude to Divine Providence.”

On FLAG DAY, JUNE 14, 1954, President Dwight Eisenhower signed Public Law 396 adding the phrase “One Nation Under God” to the Pledge of Allegiance:

“Sec. 7. The following is designated as the Pledge of Allegiance to THE FLAG: ‘I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.’

Such pledge should be rendered by standing with the right hand over the heart. However, civilians will always show full respect to the flag when the pledge is given by merely standing at attention, men removing the headdress. Persons in uniform shall render the military salute.”

President Eisenhower stood on the steps of the Capitol Building and recited the revised Pledge of Allegiance for the first time.

The Pledge of Allegiance was first written in 1892 by a Baptist minister from Boston named Francis Bellamy, who was ordained in the Baptist Church of Little Falls, New York.

Francis Bellamy was a member of the staff of The Youth’s Companion, which first published the Pledge on September 8, 1892, in Boston, Massachusetts.

Public-school children first recited it during the National School Celebration on the 400th anniversary of Columbus’ discovery of America, October 12, 1892, at the dedication of the 1892 Chicago World’s Fair.

The words “under God” were taken from Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address:

“…that this Nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom.”

In 1979, a publication approved by and printed under authority of Congress titled “The Capitol-A Pictorial History of the Capitol and of the Congress” (Washington, D.C.: U.S. Government Printing Office, 1979), p. 24, commented regarding the Pledge:

“This Pledge attests what has been true about America from the beginning. Faith in the transcendent, sovereign God was in the public philosophy-the American consensus. America’s story opened with the first words of the Bible, In the beginning God…

…We are truthfully one nation under God ‘and our institutions presuppose a Divine Being,’ wrote Justice William O. Douglas in 1966…

…Only a nation founded on theistic presupposition would adopt a first amendment to ensure the free exercise of all religions or of none.

…The government would be neutral among the many denominations and no one church would become the state church. But America and its institutions of government could not be neutral about God.”

The pledge is “to the Flag and to the Republic for which it stands.”

A “republic” is where the people are king, ruling through their public servants called representatives.

When people pledge allegiance to the Flag, they are saying that they are the king, not some usurping dictator.

When someone dishonors the flag they are saying they do not want to be king anymore, that they want to relinquish responsibility for their lives to someone else.

They are rejecting equality before the law, freedom of speech, conscience, religion; and inalienable rights from the Creator.

President Eisenhower stated on JUNE 14, 1954:

“From this day forward, the millions of our school children will daily proclaim in every city and town, every village and rural school house, the dedication of our nation and our people to the Almighty.

To anyone who truly loves America, nothing could be more inspiring than…this re-dedication of our youth, on each school morning, to our country’s true meaning.”

President Eisenhower ended:

“In this way we are reaffirming the transcendence of religious faith in America’s heritage and future; in this way we shall constantly strengthen those spiritual weapons which forever will be our country’s most powerful resource, in peace or in war.”

J. Glenn Evans

It’s up to us, we the people, if we want to save life on earth and build a better world for all. The 1% cannot and will not save us. They are afflicted with the deadly greed disease. The two major parties will not save us, the police and military will not save us; they are all owned and their power usurped by the 1%. We cannot unite under the banner of resistance groups with a great leader anymore. They will out our leaders just like they took out such people as John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Malcolm X and others who take a stand for people.

We cannot have a violent revolution to set things right. When we resist violently to bring justice the 1% will use police and military power against us with deadly force. The 1% can’t help it, they are drugged with greed for power and wealth. They have indoctrinated our kids in schools to become good sycophants to their cause. Get smart, get a good job with their corporations and get ahead of everybody else. Students are trained to become good employees for the corporations owned by the 1%. Liberal arts have been denigrated. The game is to win. That is all that matters, compete and beat, that is what our world has become.

Let’s meditate on this a bit. Look where it has gotten us. We are in constant wars, our planet has been brought to the point of total destruction and disaster. Our air is polluted, our lakes, rivers and now the oceans are polluted and dying, all for their profit. We have created all kinds of technological developments. Every time something good is invented that can benefit people, they turn it around and use it against us and their other so-called enemies.

From the 1%’s viewpoint everything is positive and wonderful. They own over 50% of the wealth and can live in luxury. They can buy anything they want including our police, our military, our judiciary, our Congress and the executive branch. The rest of us do not matter. If we are not a consumer of their products or serve in their employment we are useless humanity. What happens to us doesn’t matter.

Okay, I’ve spelled it out; our world is in the deadly grip of the 1%. So what can we do about it? We must recognize and utilize our own power. Without us to do their work and consume their products the 1% is helpless and their power is broken. That’s it, we must break their power and build alternative sources to fill our needs. That’s what the capitalists did to conquer the feudal age. They built alternatives and made nobles superfluous. Now it is their turn to be replaced since they exploit rather than serve us.

Like I said, at this point we can’t organize groups to take corrective action. They will take out our leaders and come down with deadly force. Look at what happens in the rest of the world. When people in other countries try to organize and throw off the outside yoke of imperialism, drones take out their leaders, their citizens are bombed to hell and we buy their BS that they have taken out “the enemy.”

What can we do to change all of this? As organized groups, not much at this time, because of their deadly force. We must first break their power. We each must take personal responsibility. Start dealing with local folks to fill our needs. Get out of debt and quit borrowing money from their banks and credit cards. Buy from local farmers and merchants, who are there mainly to fill needs and make a living rather than huge profits. Get yourself a small piece of ground or use your backyard to start growing more food. Quit wasting your backyard on grass for appearances.  Learn how to preserve food for the off seasons. If you have no need to grow food, do it anyway to learn how and to help others trapped in landlord-owned apartments. What you don’t need, give it away to help others become independent of the big corporations. Food and shelter are the first two basics. If we have these without having to depend on the big corporations, that is the path to freedom. If we work for a corporation that is exploiting others, making killing machines, or polluting our world, try to get away from them as quickly as you can. If we work at making their products to kill others, or destroy our environment we are part of the problem. It doesn’t make any difference how much money we make as a sycophant to them; it is not worth it if we are helping to bring death to life on earth. We really don’t need all this stuff they sucker us into buying with their advertising. If we can get an acre of this good Earth, feed ourselves and start rebuilding the soil, we become independent. If nothing else, use our backyards or sack-bags of dirt to grow vegetables. Treat land as sacred, it is here for all life.

We must demand that the UN has the power to hold war makers and those who abuse others to account. If we can’t make the UN do its duty, we must organize an international People’s Tribunal that will take action to hold war makers and polluters accountable. In the future we must settle our conflicts by law and courts rather than war.

We are better off when we cooperate and share rather than compete and beat. The state does not give life, therefore; the state does not have the right to take life. Let’s discipline ourselves and cut down on the world’s population explosion. Once we have broken the power of the 1%, we must change the system to register all people of legal age to vote regardless of circumstances. We must set up term limits and public financing for elections. Those people and corporations who utilize our public airways shall be required to dedicate 20% of each broadcast timeslot for 30 days prior to elections, as a royalty due the people, to be used by qualified registered candidates.

We shall create a world based on laws that bring justice for all. We shall develop an international power to hold war makers and exploiters to account. We start by taking individual responsibility, withdrawing our support and cease cooperating in their deadly game of destruction for profit. Resources of this earth are here for all life and not just for a few rich grabbers who take more than their share. Why should one person accumulate enough for 1000 lifetimes and 1000 families go hungry? Let’s start thinking about what personal action we can take. It is with our combined personal action that we shall end their power. We must stop allowing them to use people against each other. With life on earth we are all in the same boat, so let’s start bailing, even if we have but a thimble to use.

Term Limits Amendment Support

U.S. Term Limits is excited to announce that Libertarian presidential candidates Governor Gary Johnson and Governor William Weld have pledged, if elected, to support a constitutional amendment for term limits on members of Congress.

With Sens. Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio out of the race, Johnson-Weld is now the only presidential campaign to have made this commitment to the 75 percent of Americans who back term limits.

Their support for term limits shows they are committed to preventing career politicians and restoring the founders’ idea of a citizen legislature.

The USTL pledge reads “I, as a candidate for president of the United States, pledge to support congressional passage and state ratification of an amendment to the U.S. Constitution that would set term limits on service in the U.S. Senate and U.S. House as there are term limits on the President, as enacted by the 22nd amendment.”

The Supreme Court ruled in the 1995 case U.S. Term Limits v. Thornton that congressional term limits can only be achieved by constitutional amendment. While the president does not have a vote or a veto in this process, his is an important pulpit that can be used to get the amendment passed.

Both Johnson and Weld have track records of support for term limits. Johnson has called the reform “a silver bullet.” He has said “if term limits are in effect, politicians will do the right thing as opposed to whatever it takes to get re-elected.”

As governor of Massachusetts, Weld served as national Co-Chairman of U.S. Term Limits and honored his promise not to seek a third term as governor.

Both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump have turned down the term limits pledge, despite it having support from a vast majority of Americans.

Term Limit Solution

Term Limits

Give me a couple of minutes of your time and I am confident I can convince you that this is not just a wishful thought, but a workable solution.

Many will look at this and their first thought will be that this can’t be real because it’s on Facebook. While we have people on the streets across the nation, we are using Facebook quite a bit. Stop and think about it from a strategic viewpoint. Facebook is a large-scale, interwoven communications network that currently connects with well over half of the adult population in America. For the first time in history, we have the ability to communicate with each other without the biased, filtered input associated with the mainstream media.

Now let’s talk about Congress.

The Princeton and Northwestern 20 year study proved that only those with money have a voice in Congress. They proved that the opinions and needs of the bottom 90% of income earners in the US have no impact on Congressional decisions. We have corporations and special interest groups spending billions annually influencing the decisions being made and its working. While the top 1% are showing income increases averaging over three times the cost of living, eight out of ten Americans are falling further below the cost of living each year. We have a Congress where the members are consistently showing average increases in their net worth of over a million each year, while on a $174,000 salary. We have many lobbyists who are relatives of members of Congress. We have 50% of Senators and 42% of Representatives becoming lobbyists after leaving Congress, many with seven-digit salaries.

It’s pretty clear that we can’t go on like this much longer without an economic collapse.

Now let’s talk about how to fix it.

There are so many changes that need to be made, such as campaign reform, limiting lobbyist influence, and creating a representative environment. The problem is that these types of changes are too complex to be Constitutional Amendments, so we need legislation. The problem becomes further compounded by the Congressional Rule that seniority equals authority. There’s no way in the world that the senior/most powerful members of Congress, who decide how the parties will vote and who have been benefitting from the current environment for 30 or 40 years, will let the necessary legislation reach the floor.

In an ideal world the answer would be to vote these senior members out of office. Unfortunately, the voting system has become perverted by social apathy, the power of the two polarized parties, and the mountains of money thrown at incumbents by the lobbyists who have bought them off. They become so powerful that in 2014, 58% running for re-election didn’t even have a challenger in the primaries. When you throw in the polarized parties, people like you and I are stuck in the voting booth looking at two names; the incumbent we dislike or the party whose ideology we can’t stand. The result of this environment is that with the lowest approval rating in history, 96% were re-elected.

If we can’t vote them out, we’re left with one option; including a term limits Amendment in the US Constitution. Before I explain how we can do this without Congress’s approval, let me give you an example of what we will see.

If a 12 year max for life (equals 2 senate terms) term limit was ratified today, the 227 senior/most powerful members of Congress would not be eligible for re-election. This single step would eliminate EVERY long-term relationship between Congress and lobbyists. In addition, lobbyists have confessed that it takes millions and years to buy a seat in Congress. With term limits in place, there would be an average of 89 new members of Congress every two years. While 12 years is plenty of time for experience, this turnover rate would never again allow lobbyists the time necessary to control a majority in Congress.
Here’s how we’re going to do it.

Our founding fathers were some pretty brilliant men. Having battled for our freedom from an aristocratic and unrepresentative government, they were very aware that the possibility of our own government evolving into something similar was a possibility. What many people are unaware of is that the founders added a panic button in the Constitution in case this happened.

Article 5 of the US Constitution is the article that defines how Amendments are added to the Constitution. Again, what many don’t realize is that they included TWO options for adding an Amendment.

The first is pretty commonly known. If an Amendment passes a super-majority vote in the House and in the Senate, it then goes out to the states for ratification.

The second option of Article 5 is the panic button and the reason most of you haven’t heard about it is because those in power don’t want you to. If you have heard about it, the odds are that you’ve heard some disinformation that is now being pumped out to try to keep Americans from using it. Congress and those benefitting from the corrupt environment in DC have a lot of power and money. The last thing they want is for us to realize that a means exists that allows the people and states to supersede Congress’s authority.

When 2/3’s of the States (34 States) apply for an Article 5 Convention for the same purpose, a Convention is called. Each state sends delegates to the Convention, where they discuss the topic and vote on an Amendment. If the Amendment passes at the Convention, it is returned to the states where it must be ratified by ¾’s of the States (38 States), just like the ratification of the first option of Article 5. If ratified by 38 States, it becomes an Amendment to the US Constitution, and there’s nothing Congress can do to stop it.

If anyone tries to scare you away from this option, remind them that ONLY Amendments can be proposed at a Convention and that the ratification process is the safety that our forefathers installed for either option. There are not 38 States that lean to the right. There are not 38 States that lean to the left. The only type of Amendment that will be ratified is a non-partisan Amendment such as Term Limits.

Obviously, the next step is to convince the State Governments to apply for an Article 5 Convention for Term Limits. The State Legislatures are as upset with Congress as we are and they stand to benefit by getting rid of the senior/most powerful members of Congress. But, there will always be the fence-sitters and those scared of change. That’s where the petitioning comes in.

Petitions have a much stronger affect at the state level than the federal level. Petition signers within a state are much more likely to impact a state legislator’s future. The more signatures we have in a state, when we approach the state governor, the more pressure we apply to the fence-sitters to support calling a Convention.

What we need.

Signing the petition, e-petition or hard copy, is a great start, but if that’s all you do, then you’re counting on a handful of us to reach the entire nation. But, if YOU sign the petition and also volunteer to fill a petition (15 signatures) or even a partial petition, we can accelerate this process dramatically.

Now the ball’s in your court. You can sign and wait, in which case this will take many years. Or, you can sign and volunteer, and we can quickly begin changing the course of our government back to a representative body.

Remember. Corruption is color-blind. It is not red. It is not blue. On this one occasion, on this one non-partisan topic, we must set aside our labels and work together as Americans.

An Endorsement of Donald J. Trump For President

The American people have expressed their frustration with the Washington “Political Ruling Class” and the Congressional leaders of the Republican and Democrat parties, because they have supported policies that can only be described as an anti-American, and being in the pocket of Washington lobbyists.  They consistently violated most of the principles upon which the Founding Fathers established the Republic, and failed to take legal action in Federal Court to halt Obama’s repeated violations of the US Constitution.

The greatest threat to the Republic today is the continued degrading of the US Armed Forces, and the out of control spending by an irresponsible Congress that is driving the national debt of the Republic to bankruptcy—the Republican and Democratic leaders in Congress are responsible for the dangerous condition of the Republic—they have consistently failed to do their jobs as outlined in the US Constitution for the last 8 years.

The ”Political Ruling Class” and the leaders of the House and Senate have fostered globalist policies, and have sold-out the country’s Free Enterprise System to international financial interests, whose policies are not in the best interest, nor in the well-being of hard working American citizens.

The “Political Ruling Class” with complete disregard for the American taxpayer, have fostered a policy which American Colonists revolted against 240 years ago, “taxation without representation”.  Both parties working together have spent the Republic into near bankruptcy, because of “their greed, irresponsibility, and their disregard for the welfare of American citizens.”

The Republican Congressional leadership that controls both houses of Congress, betrayed their rank and file base, by allowing Obama to hollow out the US Armed Forces, while at the same time they allowed Obama to drive his “Social Experiment On Diversity” into the US Armed Forces that is well on its way to destroying the “Combat Effectiveness” of the US military, and they did absolutely nothing while Obama violated the freedom of religion of Military Chaplins and the members of the US Armed Forces.

The Republican leaders in Congress have collaborated with Obama for nearly 8 years.  They refused to close the wide open southern border,  funded every one of his illegal immigration policies, funded the entry of over 925,000 Middle East Refugees without allowing the FBI to vet them to determine if they have terrorist ties, and funded Obama’s violation of U S Federal Immigration Laws.

The Republican leaders in Congress have betrayed millions of the rank and file Republican voters who put them in the control of Congress, while the “Political Ruling Class” have continued to repeat that Donald Trump is not conservative enough.  In fact the funding of Obama’s policies by the Republican Leaders in Congress, over and over again, demonstrated that their funding policies were not conservatives at all.

I was fortunate to work for Governor, then President Ronald Reagan on and off for 14 years, including for a period of time, after President Reagan left the White House.  Very few members of the “Political Ruling Class” can even come close to President Reagan’s conservative policies.  The Republican leaders in Congress have demonstrated they are not Reagan Conservatives by failing to rein in the out of control spending, by allowing Obama to continue to hollow out the US Armed Forces to the level it stood at before WWII, by refusing to build a wall to seal the wide open border allowing the entry of over 1 million Illegal Aliens each year for the last 8 years, by failing to support the Free Enterprise System that Ronald Reagan strongly supported, by violating the US Constitution in passing bills in Congress to approve International Treaties with Iran and the 12 Pacific Rim nations, instead of passing them as International Treaties requiring a 2/3rd vote of the US Senate.

The rank and file members of the Republican Party have been frustrated by the above listed policies of the Washington “Political Ruling Class” and the Republican Congressional leadership.  They rejected the “Political Ruling Class” choice for Republican nominee for President, and have given Donald J. Trump more votes than any other Republican candidate for President in the history of the Republic, and the Republican Primaries are still not over.   Patriotic Americans have spoken, I’ve heard the same message that have resonated with the millions of Americans who voted for Donald J. Trump, and joined the fight as the Chairman, Veterans 4 Trump, Southern California (Orange County, Imperial County, and San Diego County).

For nearly 12 months we have watched the left of center liberal media establishment repeatedly try to mislead the American people by saying Donald Trump is against women, and called him a racist because he called for using the same provisions of US Federal Law that President Jimmy Carter used when he excluded Iranians from entering the United States, when he called for the pause in the entry of Middle East Refugees until the FBI can determine if they have terrorist ties.

Throughout his life, Mr Trump has associated with men and women of every ethnicity, dated women of every ethnicity, and married two immigrant women.  For over 45 years Donald Trump has employed many thousands of blacks, Asians, and Hispanic personnel, has provided women with unlimited opportunity to grow in management positions, at a time when it was not common in business circles, and he has Jewish grandchildren.  He is hardly a racist, nor is he against women.

Donald J. Trump is the only nominee for Presidents, from either party, in my lifetime, who has ever raised donations for Veterans Groups in the course of a Presidential campaign.  He raised and donated $5.6 million for Veterans groups; although Hillary has billions of dollars in her Canadian slush fund, she only donated $75,000 to veterans causes.  Mr Trump quietly donated $25,000 to Sgt Andrew Tahmooressi, USMC when he incarcerated in a Mexican jail for 214 days.  At the end of the conflict with Iraq, during Operation Desert Storm, Mr Trump arranged flights for over 200 US Marines to return to the US, when he learned their transportation had been delayed. He has always been a very strong supporter of Veterans.  For many years, and with no publicity, Mr Trump has hosted Wounded Warriors and their families at Mar-a-Largo in Florida, providing them with the same amenities as paying guests at no charge.

For over 4 months, the left of center liberal media establishment, made a big show of expressing concern for veterans, by criticizing Donald Trump for not distributing the $5.6 million he raised for veterans.  Yet they never mentioned the fact that Hillary’s multi-billion dollar Canadian slush fund never came close to donating nearly $6 million to veterans.

For the last 8 years the left of center liberal media establishment have ignored the fact that 22 veterans commit suicide every day, and ignored the fact that thousands of Veterans have not been able to get medical appointments at VA hospitals for service connected injuries—so much for their hypocritical expression of concern for veterans. The hypocrisy and the double standard of the left of center liberal media establishment, in Obama and Hillary’s pocket is obvious to the American people.

We oppose Hillary whose felonious E-mail scandal, compromised and transmitted over 2200 Secret, Top Secret, and Top Secret SCI messages on an unclassified server.  It is so egregious, that 25 of those messages are so highly classified, that the American people will never know their contents.  Hillary destroyed 30,000 messages on her private server, which is violation of Federal Law.  She can’t be trusted to protect the National Security interests of the United States at all, she must be indicted for perpetrating “High Crimes” against the United States.

Hillary’s private E-mail server “disqualifies” her from holding “any federal office”.  Very specifically the Federal Law that precludes her from holding “any federal office” is US Federal Law, Title 18, Section 2071 (a) “Whoever willfully and unlawfully conceals, removes, mutilates, obliterates, or destroys, or attempts to do so, or with intent to do so take and carries away any record, proceeding, map, book, paper, document, or other thing, filed or deposited with any clerk or officer of any court of the United States, or in any public office, or with any judicial or public officer of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned for not more than three years, or both.”  Hillary, by her actions, is precluded by Federal Law from running for election to any federal office, and certainly not for the highest office in the land.

Hillary  demonstrated, by her failures as Secretary of State to provide adequate security to the Mission in Benghazi, when it was personally repeatedly requested 12 times from her, over a 7 month period,  by the US Ambassador to Libya, and after “The Battle of Benghazi”, when she lied to the parents of the deceased Libyan Ambassador, the two Navy SEALs and the Communication Specialist murdered by Radical Islamic Terrorists, by telling them the attack was the result of a demonstration against a video.  Hillary is a congenital liar who is responsible for the death of four Americans, and can’t be trusted.

Hillary originally entered into secret negotiations with Iranian Radical Islamic Terrorist to develop the Un-Constitutional Iranian Nuclear Weapons Agreement that is permitting Iran to develop nuclear weapons, and intercontinental ballistic missiles that will be able to hit the United States.  By that action she has demonstrated that she doesn’t believe that the United States should remain the strongest militarily super power in the world.

By Hillary’s actions, over the last 8 years, in support of Obama’s Socialist agenda and her current support for every one of Bernie Sander’s Socialist/Communist policies, she has demonstrated that she doesn’t believe that the United States should remain as an independent sovereign nation, as a Judeo-Christian-based Constitutional Republic. as the greatest Free Enterprise System in the history of mankind.  She wants to continue down Obama’s road to Socialism

In this, the most important election in the 240 year history of the Republic, concerned Patriotic Americans Citizens should demonstrate that they:

(1) want to rebuild the “Combat Effectiveness” of the hollowed out US Armed Forces,
(2) oppose Socialism and support the retention of the Free Enterprise System that built the most successful economic engine in the history of mankind,

(3) want the FBI to vet hundreds of thousands of Middle East Muslim Refugees, being resettled in 180 US cities, to determine if they have terrorist ties, before they are allowed to enter,

(4) support the closure of the wide open southern border to prevent the continued entry of Illegal Aliens, Drug & Human Smugglers, and Radical Islamic Terrorists,

(5)  want to rein in the out of control spending by the irresponsible leaders of both parties in Congress who continue to bankrupt the Republic,

(6) want the appointment of future Justices of the Supreme Court Justices to be strict Constitutionalists who will protect provisions of the 2nd Amendment,

then Americans should vote for Donald J. Trump for President

I encourage all Americans to also elect the endorsed Combat Veterans For Congress who have sworn to protect and defend the US Constitution, because their elections will contribute toward the needed change in the composition of the poorly led Congress.

To date, some of the Combat Veterans For Congress who have expressed their support for the Republican nominee are Senator Tom Cotton, Cpt-USA (R-AR-Senator), Senator John McCain, USNA ’58, Capt-USN (Ret) (R-AZ-Senate), Cong Duncan D. Hunter, Maj-USMCR, (R-CA-50), Cong Duncan L. Hunter (Ret) (Cpt/Ranger), Cong James Bridenstine, USNR (R-OK-1), Cong Ryan Zinke, USN (Ret) (SEAL) (R-MT-1), Cong Steve Russell, LTC-USA (Ret) (Ranger) (R-OK-5), BGen Mark Bircher USNA ’76, USMC (Ret) Esq. Hidalgo, Jr., USMC (Ret) (R-CA-51).

LT In Country

On June 6 2016, we remembered the D-Day invasion in Europe.  I’m sharing some neat movie clips of my 101st Airborne Division getting ready to ‘jump’ behind the lines near Normandy on that fateful day right here.  D-Day set the stage for the defeat of Nazi Germany and the end of WWII.  The ‘Screaming Eagles’ were killers.  They still are.  Their history is based on one motto:  “Kill the enemy, All the way”.  When our ‘heroes’ came home from WWII, they were met with cheers and respect from all Americans.  They had won their war.

23 years later, I was in the 101st Airborn Division in Vietnam as a 1st Lieutenant, and because I was raised in the rice fields here in Northern California, I was actually placed by my superiors in the US Army in my own back yard.  I was totally at home in the day and night in the rice paddies in Vietnam.  The story I am sharing this month has never been told.  In the picture above I am holding an old BAR rifle and leading my ARVN Platoon in the rice near Hue in the I Corps of South Vietnam.

LT’s M60

This shot was taken on my 21st Birthday in the A Shaw Valley in Vietnam.  Dateline circles here, this photo is farther further into my career in The Nam.  I like this shot.  That’s an M60!  Looks like maybe I could hit what I was aiming at?  This part of my ‘war’ was defining.  I had finally made it.  I had been cut off from all the ‘by the book’ bull shit.  I was laison to one of the Infantry Battalion supplying them daily and nightly air support, and sit-reps for the Colonel and his staff from the 2/17th CAV helicopter air support.  It was a ‘cushy’ assignment, but I was totally alone in that bunker below me, and cut off from all other human contact.  My superiors gave me this job to ‘kill the enemy’.  We virtually destroyed the Viet Cong in the Tet Offensive, and my first platoon was virtually wiped out.  So my Colonel ordered me to Nha Trang for the Green Beret’s RECONDO School.  I graduated and became one of the first ‘official’ LRRP Officers of the 101st.  (I was also a graduate of the Jungle Expert School in Panama before I arrived in Vietnam, but that’s another story.)
